    Default FedEx Volumetric shipping caculator

I am getting frustrated with FedEx using volumetric shipping instead of the actual size of the item so need to setup a conversion scheme for my site. Canada is metric so all our measurements are in CM and Kilos. The volumetric formula is LxWxH (in CM)/5,000 = Kilos (volumetric).

I'm figuring I need to add a new spreadsheet column (working with EasyPopulate) starting with the formula, then cleaning the formula out of that column and cnaming that column "v_vol_weight". That should also display in the Product Edit window, perhaps with that value displayed next to the "FedEx Ship Separately" box - to make sure it isn't wildly off.

Then massage the FedEx module so it uses the vol_weight.

Anyone done this to save me a few hours of work setting it up? Being a lazy sort of fellow...

    Thanks,

    John :-#)#

OK, no one rushing to fill the void... My plan then is to figure out how to:

    1) create new data base values called v_ship_weight, and v_vol_weight (for volumetric weight)
    2) figure out how to generate PHP code that takes the dimensions entered and do the formula (LxWxH)/5000 (metric - FedEx - note that it could change depending on how the store is configured, but that is MORE coding) and have that value inserted into v_vol_weight.
    3) have a second formula in PHP that compares the value in v_weight and v_vol_weight and sends the higher of the two to v_ship_weight.
    4) have FedEx (and Canada Post) look for the total v_ship_weight for doing calculations instead of total v_weight - that is just editing.

    Am I overlooking anything?
It seems like it isn't a lot of coding, one just needs to teach the FedEx php code to gather the dimensions of the product(s) and do the math producing the volumetric weight desired after verifying which is the largest weight value...
Anyone interested in working with me to produce this code?
    Thanks for reading!

I have a lot of backlogged work to do but if you desperately need this, then I could cobble something together.
I'd need to charge though, as none of my USA clients have asked for/mentioned this. Nothing major in terms of cost just as 'compensation'.

I am afraid this (not your offer to help - I appreciate that and any cost is quite appropriate!) was the last straw for me and oscMax... I am migrating to another platform shortly. It has been a fun ten years, but the lack of updates is catching up to my shop.

Losing Captcha was one big problem (getting a lot of fake customers now, purging 3 to 10 daily), but other issues are also catching up...

Nice working with you, and truly sorry to be leaving (as I am quite familiar with Max and can generally fix issues easily), but I hung in as long as I could!

Genuinely sorry to hear this - you've been welcome/helpful member of the community.
The spamming is grim - I have a simple fix for that: add a basic question on the contact and sign up form - seems to help quite a bit.
Please mention on the other thread "Roll Call?" where you intend to move to.

I'm sorry too! I have a lot invested in oscMax!!

I will post on Roll Call when I have finished the move and am satisfied with the results. I just don't think it is right to mention another shopping cart solution here.
