[Note version should be quoted as, for example, 2.0.25]

Sounds like you have a server setup/install issue. Did you follow the wiki install instructions? If the admin table hasn't been created then I suggest a re-run of the install.

Maybe a fresh download of the package too.

I did follow the wiki instructions. I had no errors while installing.
In the instructions it says to use the root user to create the database.
It didn't work so I create the database manually.

The only thing I can think is that maybe when I created the database manually I made a mistake.

What I did is to create a database with 1 table and 1 field.

After the install the database has 96 tables including admin
but the admin table contains no data.

I also get this message when trying accessing the catalog (http://localhost/oscmax/catalog/index.php)

    1364 - Field 'country_code' doesn't have a default value

    insert into whos_online (customer_id, full_name, session_id, ip_address, hostname, time_entry, time_last_click, last_page_url, http_referer, user_agent) values ('0', 'Guest', 'l5ebntbtmm61860bd0negd26a3', '127.0.0.1', 'localhost', '1294348242', '1294348242', '/oscmax/catalog/index.php', 'http://localhost/oscmax/catalog/install/install.php?step=4', 'Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13')

    HI,
I am facing exactly the same problem with 2.5RC. Tried with a fresh download and re-installing. No where any error is shown in the installation. The admin table is created with zero entries.

Post Re: Problem logging in after install

As stated previously - server setup issue - you are missing a crucial step/feature. This is easily proven by using a "free web hosting" (Google it!) service, whereby osCmax (2.0.xx or 2.5) can be installed in a few minutes.

The creation of a table and field is not required, as long as you have set mySQL user permissions correctly. If you are determined to encumber a local machine, try my wiki instructions for LAMPP (as opposed to XAMPP). [They are not spoon-fed instructions.]
There are some valid reasons to run a local installation but just trying out the software or someone with limited IT experience are not them.
