Default Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

Ran a flawless installation and got this error message. Does NOT go away after changing file permissions under File Manager (cPanel) nor in FTP program. What is causing this???

That means that you are not actually changing the permissions to the correct level. On a linux server running suphp, the correct permissions are 444

If you are using ftp and it is not changing, try a different ftp program. Some are not able to change permissions. If after trying a different ftp program (like filezilla) and it still will not change, either ssh to your account (host has to allow ssh), or put in a ticket with your host to change the permissions for you.

I will put in a support ticket; I have tried changing to 444 using File Manager inside cPanel *and* using my FTP program (Transmit)... have changed file permissions on dozens of websites and never before had a problem.

This has nothing to do with osCMax, as it is just a php file you are trying to change. osCMax php files obey linux rules like all other php files. We don't have disobedient files

LOL I'm sure. My webhost logged into my cPanel and made the change in File Manager -- how strange! Thanks for the help. :-/

cpanel > file manager > find file > check box to left of file > click "change permissions" > remove "write" access for user, owner and group!

Or, i made a video tutorial for you or anyone that needs it here, its a flash walk through on step by step how to do this: http://www.hyperactivehosting.com/im...ions-tool.html
