    Yes, I did! It was definitely enabled, and no sort order conflict.

    Cool Re: display of USPS mail class

    Well, I'm just about to add USPS to a 2.5.4 site, so let's see how it goes...

    Original usps.php:
    Code:
    <?php /* $Id: usps.php 1986 2013-07-21 20:14:50Z cottonbarn $
    ...
    ...
    Replacement file:
    Code:
    <?php
    /*
    USPS Rate V4 Intl Rate V2
    ...
    ...
    USPS was already installed in this instance and details added in Admin, so copy the relevant user data, USPS ID plus all the various prices etc.
    -> Then remove the module in Admin.

    In server File Manager, copy catalog/includes/modules/shipping to catalog/includes/modules/shipping.orig
    -> Upload the replacement usps.php to catalog/includes/modules/shipping

    -> (Optional but highly recommended) In phpmyadmin open the configuration table and run the following query:
    Code:
    SELECT *  FROM `configuration` WHERE `configuration_key` LIKE '%USPS%'
    If there are any results then delete them - otherwise the module will not work properly. I have seen numerous instances where people have attempted to reinstall and entries have been duplicated (for whatever reason, not just this module.)

    -> Back in Admin, highlight usps and select Install
    Enter relevant details again, noting that the options look completely different than before.

    Test purchase time.

    TBC possibly and YMMV

    So, just leave NO USPS module in the admin tree? Or, will putting your usps.php in the catalog/includes/modules/shipping/usps.php and then doing the install module put a new file in the admin section?

    OK, I will try this! (Probably not until this evening.)

    Some addtional details. On the old store that works, there is NO PASSWORD, or a place to enter it! I do have a password from the USPS that I entered when editing the USPS module settings on the 2.5.4 store. Is there any way to check a USPS API login and password to make sure it is accepted?

    Also, while testing this web store, I am behind a firewall with NAT, so the server cannot be accessed by WAN IP from the outside. The osCmax stock USPS module seems to function as well as it is expected to and give domestic rate quotes, but would that cause any problem with the module you supplied?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Short answer: I have no idea.
    I was just relaying exactly what I was doing on a client's site. It took me considerably longer to type in the steps than to actually do the task. I've still to get a response from testing but this has been done previously on another site, a few years back. Of course, it'll need updated AGAIN when USPS decides to make a tiny change.

    AFAIK, password is not required and you should find your (gateway/account/member/API) ID once you login to your USPS account.
    Why not try turning on debug emails?
    General USPS details can be found on the oscommerce forums (with some digging). Dunno how up to date the wiki is. :-/

    You will need to have registered an account with USPS at USPS - Web Tools Registration Web Page to use this module
    Your server woes are precisely why I do not advocate people use their own servers. If you don't fathom dyndns, curl, SSL nor any other principles of running your own web server, then just get an online hosting or VPS service, use an existing one, on a parked/sub domain, for example, or some other iteration. There are even free options! As long as they work for development purposes, that's all that matters. There's also an option to install using Softaculous. Just saying.

    Yes, got this file in place.
    USPS already installed and details added in Admin, so copy the relevant user data, USPS ID plus all the various prices etc.
    Then remove the module in Admin.
    I see NOTHING in the admin tree except in the main admin directory, there is :
    USPS_methods_utility.php which is an old file.
    There is no admin/includes/modules/shipping directory.
    Back in Admin, highlight usps and select Install
    Enter relevant details again, noting that the options look completely different than before.
    Yes, when I swap out the usps.php file, the edit page does look quite different from the stock one.

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Well, I can't say this is a COMPLETE success just yet, but I am now getting rate quotes for US domestic, Canada and Australia (which are places we had problems before).

    So, THANKS EVER so much, RidexBuilder, for the help in getting this to install! I've got some more configuring for payment modules and system security, but it is all getting a LOT closer!

    Thanks again,

    Jon

    Correct and I didn't say there was.

    osCmax Admin - Jeez!
    This will be the path you'll need to take when the next USPS update fiasco happens and/or an existing module is installed.
    Back in Admin, highlight usps and select Install
    You may wish to refresh the page first, to see the newly applied module but not necessary, as it uses the same filename (usps.php).

    OK, Things are working much better. But, I need to add insurance to the USPS rate quotes. I see there are these mysterious N S H columns of check buttons for Extra Services such as insurance, but they don't seem to do anything. Is there a way to get this updated USPS module to charge the customer for insurance? (I looked in the code, but I'm not seeing it.)

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Lightbulb Re: display of USPS mail class

    Probably best to ask about the ins and outs of the module on the osCommerce site.
