    Default Can't Login When Session ID is within the URL

    Hi Everyone

    I don't know if you can help.

    We seem to be having a problem with customers logging in.

    They add all their products into the basket, go to log in but it takes them straight back to the log in page without logging them in, with no error message and also clears their cart. It seems to be resetting their session.

    it looks like it's happening when the session ID is at the end of the URL. If you manually remove the session ID the log in works perfectly.

    Is there any way we can force the session Id not to add itself to the URL?

    Many thanks

    Glen

    Post your catalog configure.php file, minus the database username/password.

    Try changing this to a domain, not subdomain:
    PHP Code:
    define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN''hairtechwholesale.co.uk');
    define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN''hairtechwholesale.co.uk');

    Thanks @ridexbuilder

    Sadly it still won't let me log in when the session ID is in the URL, take the session Id out and works fine.

    The session ID shouldn't be display at all - that is the whole point. Your template changes are extensive: does the same happen with the non-modified fallback template?
    In Admin. set force cookies to on.

    Yes it does.

    When you first visit the site the URL doesn't have the session Id in it but all links on the site have the session ID added to the end. if you refresh the page the session Id at the end of links on the page disappear.

    I have SEO URLs 5 enabled and sessions settings are...

    Session Directory = /tmp
    Force Cookie Use = False
    Check SSL Session ID = False
    Check User Agent = False
    Check IP Address = False
    Prevent Spider Sessions = True
    Recreate Session = True

    ...many thanks for your help so far.

    You missed my last comment.

    I'd be tempted to try:
    Check SSL Session ID = True
    as well, especially as whole site is SSL
