View Full Version : Confusion Regarding Add-On's

Here's hoping I'm putting this in the right place.

I have osCMax 2.5 RC2 installed and running perfectly {<20 Minutes WOW Loved the documentation} but as with anything there is always some little tweak that would just be so nice to add. I've been reading the Add-Ons and have gotten myself completely confused. Between reading them and reading forum posts about a future migration upgrade to 2.5 from 2.0.25 can you install 1) All of the add-ons offered 2) None of the add-ons or 3) Some of the add-ons? On some of the add-ons pages if u click the version and apply the DL goes away not just on one version but both so I would assume that the file works for both but I've made that mistake before. Any help on this would be great.

Seeing as how I'm completely new at this program I have two other minor questions as well

First is: Would there happen to be a list that would show what files should have what permissions on them? I kinda fibbed a little the install did only take 20 minutes but I ran into a permission error trying to install the DB so I thought I was just changing permissions on the folder that contained the install files and, well long story short I sorta changed the permissions on everything to 777.

Second question is I read about osCMax being able to offer Digital DL products for sale with them linked to a file created and only accessible for 6 hours, but I can't find anywhere that discusses how to use this feature. I tried doing some forum searches but came up empty. I'm probably searching for it with the wrong search terms so any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Last comment is for RIDEXBUILDER, who told someone to use FIREBUG for changing the CSS file to make the page look like your own, That suggestion was awesome, I tweaked out the basic look of the site to my liking in about an hour, I have to create some new PSD's for a few things but How I ever got along without Firebug is beyond me.

You guys got an Excellent product going here and as soon as my broke butt gets to making some money selling my stuff with it, the donation is headed your way to help you keep this going.

As 'Max 2.5 is very much in a state of flux (it is a Release Candidate afterall) and is relatively new to the scene, most of the add-ons that you'll find are geared for 2.0.25 and earlier releases. When my clients need a particular feature, then I do 'upgrade' some of them to suit - in some cases just minor adjustments are required. Some of my clients are running 2.0.25 happily but will no doubt want an 'upgrade' soon, so more work will be required and more add-ons will no doubt appear. (Note: previously these were called Projects - have a look there).

Due to me not using any form of IDE nor Adobe bloatware (i.e. I mostly hand code), I couldn't live without Firebug, Web Developer et al. Stuff Chrome, long live Firefox! :)

(None of my clients use the DL feature, so I can't assist there.)
