Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to setup a compound tax consisting of a flat 10% for ALL products/orders and an additional tax/fee based on the value of the product?

Ie. All items will have a 10% GST tax applied, in addition to this items between the value of $1-$1,000 have an additional 10% tax, items between the value of $1,001-$5,000 have an additional 7.5%, items between the value of $5,001-$10,000 have an additional 5%.

Eg. Customer orders:

1x $100 item - the Extra tax is $10 (10%) plus GST $10 (10%) - total $121
2x $1000 items, $2000 - the Extra tax is $150 (7.5%) plus GST $215 (10%) - total $2365
Cart total = $2,486

If this is not possible, would it be difficult to code a mod/hack to do it?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,
Troy.

Is it possible? ... YES.

Why would you want to do it? ... UNKNOWN.

Is it easy? ... DEPENDS. (on how much PHP you know)

Basically you will need to create your own order total module or edit the existing tax module. catalog/includes/modules/order_totals/

I would look at something like the ot_lowerorderfee.php to see roughly how to do it - if you want to display the extra tax separately.

If you want to show them combined in a single tax line then you will need to hack ot_tax - but this is probably more complicated.

Hi PG,

Thanks for your response (sorry it took me a while to reply).

I will take a look at the code you're referring to and see how easy it looks.

Troy.
