USPS module that comes with OSC Max

I really, really, really need help getting USPS shipping to work in OSC Max. It wouldn't work as installed, so I tried a couple other of these contributions listed here and I can't get anywhere. When a customer tries to check out, the cart returns:

United States Postal Service An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations.
If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner.
So, I'm just baffled.... I've wasted a lot of time on this, so now I am re-installing OSCMax from scratch & I really need to know the best way to approach setting this up... with the built in module is best if it works.

Please reply. I saw that the other thread about this was closed with no responses at all.

Your server needs curl compiled into php or it will not work.

Old threads auto close if there is no activity after 12 months.

How do I find out if I have curl compiled in php?

Also, is there a USPS module that does not use curl?

Finally, what all is usually involved in installing curl. I've never heard of it before.

Curiously enough, I do have USPS running on a straight up OS Commerce site on the same server.... I can't seem to replicated the success on this new one though!

Please help.

I ran a php info and here's what it says:

CURL support enabled CURL Information libcurl/7.15.5 OpenSSL/0.9.8c zlib/1.2.3 libidn/0.6.5

Is this going to do?

I have completed my fresh install and I get the same:

OOOOOooooooooo.... I just got an email.... it says

UPSXML TimeInTransit Error: 270014: Invalid Shipment Contents Currency experienced by customer with id 1 on 2009-07-22 20:25:03

OK, that has nothing to do with the problem.... I left the USD out of the UPS XML (a module that actually works, by the way).

... Yes, I do have my zip code in the shipping section of config....

OK. I got it working. I had to request a new user ID and password from USPS. After activating it, the module now works!!
