Default Table rate shipping setup help needed

you seem to have worked things out really well. I have just learned how to use oscommerce but I'm having the same problems you had. How would you go about setting up the following weights and prices?

Up to 500 g £1.99
between 500 and 999 g £4.00
1 kg - 1.5 kg £5.00
2 - 2.9 kg £5.50
3 - 4.9 kg £6.00

Default First-time user having problems

Okay guys, having a few problems. I have literally learned how to use oscommerce over the weekend but haven't quite got the hang of the shipping rates yet. I need to use table rates because our products all have different weights and prices. I have included the weights and prices, I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction of what I need to put into the module, and the product page. Thanks a lot

You need a upper number - like up to 100kg - 99.00
(you can always give them a refund...)

So would look something like:

0.5,1.99:0.9,4.00:1.5,5.00:2.9,5.5:4.9,6.00:100,99 .00

Product weight would be the upper weight of the items (in kg)

Thanks for the reply. I actually messed around with some figures and came up with some that worked just the way I want it. I'm actually working in grams. The way I have set things up seems to work flawlessly. On the products page, I actually put in the weight, i.e. 100 g, 70 g, 50 g etc. we are charging £1.99 for up to 500 g, £4 to up to a kilo etc, OScommerce works it out exactly. I had to make alterations as I went along, but it is really good, I'm really impressed. These are the figures I entered in. Obviously I having gone as high as I could do.

550:1.99,999:4.00,1650:5.00,3200:5.50,5500:6.00

That works - however if you use ANOTHER shipping method - they expect KG or LBS not grams

I don't suppose it really matters. My client is selling soap and they come in various sizes, 100 g, 70 g. Okay, customers might be more familiar with ounces rather than grams, I'm more familiar with ounces but it's not difficult to find out how much 100 g weighs. I think at the end of the day, it's just a case of get your head around how the software calculates things. And once you have done that, you wonder why you ever had problems.
