paypal ipn

Hi all,
I have received 2 orders; one by using COD payment type and the other by using paypal. While the COD order status shows 'pending', it is being displayed in Best Sellers window and the customer is shown as notified in order details. However, the paypal order does not get displayed in Best Sellers window and its status stays as 'preparing (PayPal ipn)', even after the customer has paid and the customer never gets notified like the one for COD order does. I have the paypal ipn turned on in our paypal account's Selling Preferences and also have encryption on but it seems as though either the ipn from paypal is not getting to our website or it is not getting processed properly at the website. I am wondering if i need to make any changes to the Website Payment Preferences in paypal account. When i tested the shopping cart at the sand box before going live, paypal worked fine for instantaneous payments and simultaneous website processing, as long as i used credit card and not echeck as source of payment to paypal, as a customer. If i used echeck instead of credit card, the preparing (paypal ipn) would stay on pending the clearance of echeck. Can someone please help bail me out of this one too-Michael ?. Thanks in advance
