Tutorial on Setting Up PayPal IPN for osCMax v2.0/v1.7

Hi,
just installed a brandnew version of osCMax v2.0 RC2 - yet I am wondering if anyone could put together a quick tutorial on how to setup/configure the PayPal IPN credit module, assuming that it is the same for v1.7 and v2.0. There are a bunch of threads out there, but none really puts it all together. I am also wondering if I should use the installation instructions contained in contribution PayPal_Shopping_Cart_IPN_v3.1.5 to get started. even though that module is already part of osCMax v2.0 RC2?

1.2 Sandbox Setup and Testing Keys
1.3 Issues to look out for/hacks necessary
1.4 Anything else?

2. osC Max v1.7/v2.0
2.1 Configuration of PayPal Module
2.2 Issues to look out for/hacks necessary
2.3 Anything else?
2.4 Switching from Sandbox to live environment

I totally agree with you, a tutorial would get rid of a lot of headaches.

Setting it up in v2.0 is slightly different than 1.7 (mainly on the osCMax side), but overall both are very simple to set up really. The mod in v2.0 is less quirky than the one in v1.7 too...

Creating a document for this in the wiki should not be too hard, it is just a matter of carving out some time to do it.

The following instructions provide step-by-step instructions on how to get PayPal IPN to work with osCMax v2.0 RC2. Four things need to be accomplished to get it to work:

[1] generating a public/private key to encrypt transmissions between osC and PayPal; this is done with OpenSSL
[2] creating an account at PayPal that serves for your live store (paypal.com)
[3] creating a developer account at developer.paypal.com that allows you to test transactions via the Sandbox
[4] configuring osCMax v2.0 to work with the Sandbox, and later with the live PayPal account

Thanks to Jonthebest and Michael for their pointers. These instructions are based on two tutorials, both of which are straightforward. I just added additional comments and streamlined the instructions for configuration with osCMax v2.0
