No PayPal order emails sent - all else works okay

Hi,

Have the latest 2.03 OscMAX with among other options, Standard web PayPal.

We get order emails for everything except the PayPal payments.

The order go through okay as they are in Custoimer and Order areas in Admin, but the emails are not sent except the email from payPal which is fine.

What would cause this?

EDIT:

I just noticed that the PayPal mod was actually not enabled (false) yet the PP sale went through but no emails. Maybe this is why. I await another test.

Well, I tested it myself and it worked. All emails came down including from PayPal.

Now, why would it work sometimes and not at all times using PayPal?

Any ideas?

Was given this on the oscommerce forum..

To get the order emails from the store after a PAYPAL sale.
When the customer completes payment with paypal, they get a choice: they can either get back to your store, or they can go to their paypal account overview.

If they choose to go to their paypal account overview, the order doesn't get completed in your shop and neither you nor the customer get the order confirmation email.

To fix this, go to your paypal account > profile > selling preference > website payment preferences.

Set Auto Return to ON and enter the return URL just below (where you want the customer to be redirected).

This way, after they complete payment, they are automatically redirected to your shop, the order gets completed, everybody gets their email.

You got the right answer, you need to configure on Paypal the return URL to www.example.com/checkout_process.php , that way after the payment the customer will get a screen with something like "returning now to YOURSTORE, if this screen doesn't refresh in 5 seconds hit this link"

If a customer at this point just closes the web browser or something, you will still NOT get the order emails, and he won't be receiving them either. This will not happen too often if you set the auto return URL. But hey, you got their money and order info, so everything should be ok
