Major but probably easily fixed image problem. Help!

Hi, this is my first post here, I sure hope someone can help (but don't laugh too hard if I've just overlooked a very simple solution!).

I can not get any of my product images to show up, all I get is broken images, however I was finally able to get my logo image up (for some reason it wouldn't accept a psf image).

I have tried just about everything. I've uploaded photos directly to the folders on server (tried several variations) & I've uploaded directly through the osc control panel via the "browse" option. Both result in broken image links.

Do I need to resize the images prior to uploading them, could this be what is causing the breakage? Am I doing something else wrong?

I searched the forums for this problem and didn't see anything similar, so I'm not sure if this is a common problem or not. I did also try viewing pages/items in both IE and in MF to make sure it wasn't just a browser problem, no such luck.

Some things to check:

What kind of graphic format? Which directory did you upload them to? And what is the CHMOD of this images directory and images files? Can you put the direct URL of the graphic file into a browser and it show up properly?
