Some of you out there may be familiar with the wacky way sales tax works in CA. Localities are allowed to add a small tax over and above the state sales tax. If a business is HQ'd in a particlular locality, they would need to charge whatever the going local rate is (7.25% state + x%) when selling in their locality.
Internet sales are a little different. If the business ships to a different locality within CA, they need not charge the extra bit of local taxes, provided they don't deliver it themselves. A sale made over the internet to a customer within your locality does need to be charged the local rate.
If the seller does deliver the product himself, he's considered to be doing business in that locality, and needs to charge the local rate.
These localities go by county (with one exception I've found so far).
Somehow I have to make OSCommerce aware of which county the goods are going to, and if they are delivered or not (I will be doing some onsite deliveries).
Does anyone have suggestions?
