Is it true I can only have one product # for each product? What if my product has different attributes and I want to enter different product number according the attributes?

Example, I'm selling T-shirts, I want to the yello one # is shirt-Y and red one is shirt-R. But so far I can only enter one product # for all the different attributes.

Please help. thanks
