Default Help! Parse error message...

Hi all,
I am a newbie too, and i have been trying to modify the text shown on my index page "this is a default setup of the osCommerce project etc..." (includes/languages/english/index.php ) and I have been unsuccessful as I now am getting a parse error message (Parse error: parse error in /home/sites/site245/web/shop/includes/languages/english/index.php on line 23 )
AND
I have lost some headings
(now shows " HEADING_TITLE HEADING_TITLE
Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?
TEXT_MAIN
TABLE_HEADING_NEW_PRODUCTS and then shows normally the new products " )

I have tried to copy the source for the spanish and german language but I am getting some errors as well (the same)....

I don't know what to do now so I would much welcome your help...
thanks again
Louis1st

Hi,

I'm also new to this, and I encountered the exact same error as louis1st's. This was after I insterted just one word: "Hi". When I saw the error, I immediately restored the file to its original contents. Unfortunately, the error won't go away .

I hope someone could help us.
