Tiny tweaks but not sure where to start

I'm getting into finally tweaking my store for better customer service and I'd like to do the following but don't know where to start or how to do them:

1. I'd like to remove the "quantity" available column from the products summary page so customers don't see it

2. I'd like to offer the customer an option that if they live in my city they can select "pick up" from the shipping area and not be charged -but for all others who do not select that they'd get charged the rate

3. For some reason my product attributes are not showing on the product page in alphabetical order -all the options I've keyed in are showing...just jumbled and out of logical order

4. Create for each related product a "may we suggest" or "coordinating pieces" list

1. Set this to 0 in admin >> products listing >> Display Product Quantity
2. You will have to add a mod to your shop for this feature. Search here : osCommerce: Contributions
3. This is normal in osCommerce, you need to add another mod called 'attributes sorter' or tweak the query to put them in an order you want. Search the forums here or go the to contributions page in #2 and search for attributes sort.
4. Again, another mod called xsell or cross sell. Get it at the osC contributions page.

I've got everything working except for the contributions...those I expect to take longer.

Maybe you could help answer another question. Why are products I entered back on 12/19/06 still showing as "what's new"? Isn't there a time limit on how long something stays on that list? I'd like it to maybe stop showing something as new after maybe 30 days? if that's possible.
