Removing the "whats new here icon"

Hi, I have searched but havent been able to find the answer I am looking for.

On the main page there is an icon to the right of the.........

..."Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account" text.

How do I remove this.

Also, on the "category" pages theres an icon to the right of....

...."Let's See What We Have Here" text.

How do I remove this.

Sorry if this seems really basic, I`m learning!

For the main page, go to catalog/index.php and find table_background_default.gif in the code and replace it with whatever image you want or with pixel_trans.gif to have it disappear.

For any page, you can do this by right clicking on the image and doing Save As to find out what the image is called in the code and then going to catalog/ and finding the .php file for that page and doing the same as with the index.php file.
