any documentation available? (zones / shipping / tax zones..

Hi,

I have what appears to be a fully working shop up and running and I am attempting to configure the shipping and taxes but I am thoroughly confused as to the relationships between

SHIPPING ZONE in the payment module (table rate),
ZONE (in my shop location), and
ZONES and TAX ZONES sections in LOCATIONS / TAXES.

The documentation in the guide did not enlighten me and is for a different version of oscommerce...is there any more info out there?

Any help would be much apprecciated.....

Shipping zone in the table rate shipping module will restrict shipping charges to the zone you select. This is set in the Tax Zones area under Locations/Taxes in the admin area.

Zone - This is under My Store and needs to be set. It is dependent on the Country that you select. So, pick your country, then pick your zone. I believe this allows the script to check it against the tax zones you have set up and to do shipping calculations.

Zones and Tax Zones - This is where you set up the different tax rates for people in different locations.

Thanks! I got it working and I think I nearly understand. For anyone else in a state of confusion, there is a bit of explanation in the php files themselves (shipping / zones / etc) which can be helpful.

I think that part of my problem was that I had edited the database files which meant that they no longer worked quite as expected. A restore of the original sql files helped. Persevere!

I'm trying to add 3 additional shipping zones to the standard zones module and I think I need to add 3 entries per zone to the configuration file for fields: Countries, Shipping Table, Handling Fee.
