product attribute at shopping cart

hello all,

i would like to have a drop down menu similar to a product attribute option, but i would like to have it for every item placed in the shopping cart. for instance, we sell perfumes and once a user places an item in the bag and proceeds to checkout, they will encounter the shopping cart. here, i would like a drop down menu which allows the user to select a gift wrap option for a flat fee. we dont want this option available at the product info area.

has anyone seen this type of function done?

any type of information would be greatly appreciated.
