direct mail marketing coupon?

Hi,

I'm planning on a direct mail marketing campaign, whereby I would like to add a coupon # on the actual postcards mailed to the customers. I've searched the forum inside out, but can't find anything relating to a coupon of such. I would like to track the customer, as well as when entering the coupon # at checkout (or pre-checkout), it gives them their applicable discount.

Any ideas or suggestions?
