Oscommerce and web standards

Has anyone attempted to produce an oscommerce template using xhtml and css.
i.e. removing all tabular layout and replacing it with divs and a stylesheet?

and how much success have you had?

This has been attempted, but is not truly possible without major code rewrites, as there is lots of non-compliant hard coded html all over the place. Even with BTS, there are a lot of problems with modules, boxes, etc...
