need assistance with inventory control

I am trying to solve tracking inventory on individual product options so that I may have a single product with various attributes or options (i.e., one product with different sizes, colors, etc.) maintained in the database without creating a mess of different products. I found the QTPro contrib to be capable of achieving this, but I have been unsuccessful in modifying osC to work properly.

Does anyone have any previous experience with this? I saw several previous posts which indicated this has been accomplished. I am using the oscmax 1.7, and would like a few pointers before I try it again.

I am trying to modify the oscmax 1.7 with QTPro but have had no success. I saw some previous posts regarding this, but no one has posted any information or links that are helpful.

If anyone can point me in a good direction, I would appreciate it.
