    Default RE: Change/remove default

    Hi xiods

The link to your website should end... index.php (You have 2 'i's in your 'iindex').

Before you do more to your site, instead of using the standard osc, you should consider downloading and using osCMAX instead, because (thanks to msasek) it comes with a whole load of added functionality. It's certainly worth checking out - you'll be glad you did.
It even allows you to easily customize those text areas you want and (if you're using a PC on Internet Explorer) it can also show WYSIWYG html without you having to resort to Dreamweaver.

When you want to change images (e.g. your own logo, instead of osCommerce), you'll find most of them in the catalog/images directory. The painless way to include your logo would be simply to make it the same dimensions as the osCommerce one, give it the same name 'oscommerce.gif' and replace the original with it. Try it, it's easy! You can change any other images the same way. Note: If you want to change the image names, you'll have to delve into the source code to change the appropriate references too. (Just use Dreamweaver to search the site files for the relevant code/text.)

Of course, you can do much more than that, and completely change the look of the whole site if you want, but just take it one step at a time.

By the way, the images for buttons are to be found here: catalog/includes/languages/english/images/buttons/
and you can replace them with your own design, if you like.

You can also modify the file 'stylesheet.css' to change the look and formating of text etc. (but make a back-up, incase you make a muck-up of the original). Note: The location of the stylesheet will be different in osCMAX, but if you're still using standard osc, you'll find it in the 'catalog' directory.

Also checkout the files in the 'language' directory, for example 'english.php' and the others in the 'language/english' directory. You'll find lots of stuff to modify there. (Again, make sure you back-up any originals you work on!)

I know this is just scratching the surface and there's tons to learn, but I hope this helps a bit.
I'm a relative newbie too. (Been using osCMAX most days for about six months now.) And I am indebted to msasek and everyone else who has made this possible. (Thanks Michael!)

    Good luck!
