Default OSCommerce - osCMax Whats the difference?

What si the difference between Oscommerce and OscMax? I have Oscommerce, I downloaded OscMax but for some reason my service provider activated Oscommerce.

I know OscMax has extra features so how do I upgrade to OscMax from Oscommerce? or are these 2 completely different programs?

Which one is more user friendly?

Sorry for all the questions I just want to make it as easy as possible for myself.

Thanks for you time

David

Default More user friendly?

The big difference as I see it is that osCMax installs all the really cool add on programs when you install. Once they are up and running they are nearly the same.

You save HOURS of time by not having to install the add ons yourself. Many of which I feel should be included in the basic package of OSCommerce. As far as upgrading I think it would be easiest to do a clean install.

Downside is that it is a heavily modified install so if you want to install a new mod (written for osCommerce) it becomes slightly more difficult as the instructions will often make refference to a line number that won't correspond with what you have.

However for my money (and time) osCMax wins hands down.

I hope this helps.

Default RE: More user friendly?

Thanks for a speedy reply.

Well I have been using Oscommerce for awhile now and my server activated this form their end.

I have downloaded the files for OscMax but for some reason whenI go to the folder which contains this I cant seem to open anything in there, all the files have that icon the one that says it needs a program to open this type of file?

This is probably why I stuck with Oscommerce.

Plus I have also downloaded several modules that work with oscommerce for my website, so I dont know how I would go with putting these in OscMax.

Also if I did start from scratch again with OscMax would I loose all my current work or would OscMax just mould in around my current work?

David
