Default Change the number of Catagories

Im really starting to get ticked off with this system.

How do you make oscommerce read more catagories? I upload my spreedsheets with my products listed on them, some have 4 catagory columns some have 5, 6 & 7 being the most.

But each time I upload the system doesnt read all the catagories and places the files where ever it wants too.

Eg. I have a spreedsheet with the following catagories:

Miniatures, Historical, 54mm, Armies in Plastic, ACW.
it uploads and creates a new folder starting at Historical instead of Miniatures which is already created on the site.

another is: Miniatures, Historical, 15mm, Fantassin, Napoleonic, French, Infantry. It loads and creates a file starting with 15mm.

Last but not least I have another one that is Miniatures, Historical, 20mm, Heller. This one loads in the appropriate files.

Can anyone explain to me why this happens. Because it is very frustrating when I have to keep deleting and moving files once they are uploaded. I thought this program does it all for you.

I would appreciate any advise you could give, thanks for your time.

    David

If you are using easypopulate, you have a bad formatted easypopulate file. You are most likely missing a product id number (Required for every product, and MUST be uniqie) or an EOREOR field. Check your files.

If you are not using easypopulate (you should be!), you are also making a mistake somewhere in your data format...

Default How do I fox this

    Thanks Michael

I use Easy Populate. I have all the necessary columns on my spreedsheet.

When I need a new column I insert a column and then copy the formula from the previous column across, I also change the number on the column to represent the next number.

Each column has the heading v_categories_name_# depending which column it is.
The formula in each column is as follows:
    =IF('Product Catalog'!L8=0,"",'Product Catalog'!L8) etc

Every row also has the column with EOREOR written in it and the formula here says ='OSC Upload'!CQ2
Im still learning this program so any guidance to help rectify this would be great.

    Thanks again

    David

There should not be any formulas in any of the fields. This is a straight CSV text file. EP does not translate formulas. That is your issue most likely. You need to actually input the category name into the field.

Hmmm not sure I understand, if it doesnt recognise formulas then how am I getting the current info to the site?

Would it be easier if I emailed you a spreedsheet so you could look at?

The formulas are actually in the background.

I have 3 pages on my spreedsheet the second page is used for uploading, the codes on each column helps get the info from the first page.

Hard to explain, it would be easier showing you.

Can I send you a copy of one of my smaller catalogs?
