modify the manufacturer box

Hi,

I want to make some changes on the manufacturer box. I want the list of a subcategory instead of the list of manufacturers.

Changing how it looks is no problem but i cannot figure out to change how it works. I mean clicking of a subcategory must be the same as clicking of an element of the manufacturer list.
