Default Click photo or name for more information?

I have recently set up my cart and have gone through a search both here and on the oscommerce forums but can't find what I'm looking to do.

When my customers get to the categories/subcategories I want there to be something at the top that tells them to click the photo or product name for more information as I've already had some customers ask about that. While most of us would think it is obvious that you have to click to get more info I would like to make it very clear. I was trying to search to find where I could add it to the table that displays the products but I wasn't quite sure how.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance,
mcilpuf

Here are two bad ideas, but easy to do. (1) Add the text to your category names or (b) put the text in the images you use fo royur categories.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I did think of that but it seemed so messy. Was hoping there was some other way to do it. I was really thinking someone may have already come up with something but it doesn't appear so.

Thanks again,
mcilpuf

in subcategory or category description...add the text in

Please choose from the following choices:

if you need to break it out from the rest of the description (if used)

Hi there,
Acutally I wasn't meaning in the description part I mean when they click on the category and see the photos of the product or the name. Some of them don't realize they have to click on the photo or the name link to get more information. That's where I need them to know. In the description I believe the drop down list is more obvious.

Thanks anyway

Look at this link and see if it is something like what you are talking about

http://www.makemethis.com/index.php/cPath/24

All of the text above the choice text line wouldn't have to be there

Oh I see what you are saying. You are saying I can put text in above all of the photos like you have giving them information they would need. Where do you put the documentation for each category and/or subcategory? I'm still fairly new to php but I assume it goes in the includes/languages area somewhere so that each category could have it's own text.

Thanks so much,
mcilpuf

when you make a new category or subcategory in the admin...there is a text input area for description...put your description there and then last line something like

<br>Please choice from the following choices:

If you have no category descripton, just use the above line as the description...

If the category or subcategory already exists, just go into the admin area where they are and select the one you want to work on...then use the edit button and you will have the boxes to input the text...

If no box exists in the admin area, I believe there is a setting in admin under config part that asks if you want to allow category descriptions...set this value to true...

hope this helps
