Can one create an open-ended donation as a product in OSC?

Hey all.

Been working with OSC for a week or so now, setting up a little product catalog for a nonprofit; I've run into a few gotchas, and will be posting about some of the others once I've done a more thorough search of the archives.

This one, I'm pretty sure is undocumented. The question is this:

How can we create a product whose price can be modified with a text field, so that people can make donations of whatever amount they wish? We'd like the donations to begin at a certain membership level -- to be based on a fixed product price, if you will -- and then to include an 'Additional Donation' field, into which a new member can add any amount to donate on top of the membership rate.

Has this been implemented anywhere, and if not, can I get a few pointers on the best way to go about implementing it? I don't have time to sign on as a code contributor to this or any other project, but I would be able to do a certain amount of code extension if it's required.
