Help with shipping figures

Can anybody help with the shipping part.

I'm using table rate i i thought i had set it all up correctly but when i put in the weights for my products they have no link whats so ever to the settings i put in..

Is there some sort of special equastions to work them out.

Anybody help please i'm a newbie to this forum and php......

lets see ur "shipping_table", the text box where you fill in the criteria, something like, 25:8.50,50:5.50 and make sure ur choosing Table method as weight.

Have you set the 'package tare weight' in Admin->Configuration->shipping/packaging to 0 (it defaults to 3 and adds that to the order weight)
