Default What HTML editor should I be using to change things?

For my OSCommerce site, what HTML editor should I be using to make changes?? I was told that Front page doesn't work well with it because it leaves extra code. What works the best? Sorry, I am new at all this. I didn't put this site together, someone else did, and I bought it from them, so I am catching up.

The best thing to use to edit php files is a simple text editor. Notepad should do fine. If you need a program to help you with things then there are several programs out there such as phpPad or PHPEd.

I find notepad to be a little deficient when it comes to editing code. I suggest a good text editor like Ultra Edit, or at least something that offers line numbers.... Something that has PHP formatting is good too.
