    Default SPEED things up?

Hello. I am having trouble with the page loading speed using osc. My current html based site will load a pg with 10 thumbnails and several gifs in about 1 minute at 56k. My new osc based site will load the catalog pg with only 7 thumbs and 2 gifs in 3 MINUTES 45 SECONDS at 56k!!!! This obviously is unacceptable. I installed thumbnail generator but I see no noticeable improvement. I have over 1k of images total, with one category having 250 thumbs. At cable modem speeds, it is not really an issue, but current statistics say that less than half of all internet users have a high speed connection. Speed is my remaining issue before switching to the new site. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

This may have more to do with the performance of your Mysql installation than it does with OSC. On a good server 300-400 queries per second is a good average, on a bad server, 100 queries per second would make OSC take all day to load. I would also make sure your host has Zend optimizer or similar PHP performance booster installed. You may also wish to check your PHP.INI file and make sure you have more than 2megs lol, set aside for application use.

If all else fails, consider moving to a host with high performance servers. Myself or Msasek of AABOX can help you in that regard.

    Thanks. A number of question.
How do I tell the # of queries going on?
Where is the php.ini file located?
How many megs should it be?
    Using Lunarpages.
Thanks. This backend stuff is all new to me.

Ask your hosting company to take a look at there setting. Many low cost server/hosting you will not have access to php.ini (a server based file - not OSC/web based file).

PHP file has to be processed by the servers CPU. If the server is heavlly loaded or not OPTIMIZED it will be slow (even though a plain HTML is loaded of the same server very fast) - then ask them to look into to and fix it or move to a less loaded server.
Lunarpages has (apparently): Webalizer & Analog to see your site stats....Check it out in your websites admin - CPanel.

    Call them at:
    1-877-LUNARPAGES
    or Email at:
    support@lunarpages.com

Apparently they are suppost to have great customer support...
