Shipping module enabling problems

For some reason when I place an order and go through the checkout process it brings me to the Fedex shipping module page even though I have removed that module and currently have "per item" enabled. I have tried enabling other modules as well but it always defaults back to Fedex, not sure why. Any ideas? Is there a way I could force the change in the database?

Try reinstalling it and removing it again. The server may have timed out last time.

No that didn't work either. Just so I'm clear on this, the way it's supposed to work is I set the shipping module in the admin area, "per item" let's say. Then the customer buys something and I go back into the admin area and hit ship and it shouldn't show me the Fedex screen, correct? That's what it is currently doing on both my local install and my staging site. When I click on the ship button it points me to /oscmax/catalog/admin/ship_fedex.php, should that be the case?

No! The SHIP button was in by default from an old install of FedEX - Just go to edit order and set the order status to delivered. You don't need to use the SHIP button unless you are using FedEX.

Ps. This has been fixed in v2.5.
