Default Integrating look and feel of osC with already designed site

Hi, I have an urgent question, and would appreciate any help. I have succesfully installed osC into the recommended /catalog/admin/....directory structure, which works great.\

I also have a predesigned site that I have to integrate the osC with. For instance, I need to display the amount of items in the cart with the custom design.

When I try to cut and paste code from any of the pages, I keep getting a blank page. I know the problem has to do with my newbiness and lack of full understanding of the file structure.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the help I need before incurring too much frustration?

Thanks!!

Sorry, but this question is just too vague. You either need to accept that oscommerce generates full pages or post examples of what you are trying to integrate into.

Hi Liltyga, congratuations at getting your site installed. There are many ways to integrate osc with existing sites. You can even use plain html files and just link to the products "page" with the code cut and pasted from your browser's location bar.

If you are trying to use full links for other than products though, it probably will not work. The actual file structure is not apparent when you look at an osc site; rather than being at the root, most of the pages are located in /includes/languages/English/filename.php. Ask if you want to know about specific pages.

Best,
Kerry

Step 1 - Try changing the css file to match the color/style setup of your exisitng site. (Add backgound colors/graphics. Change TEXT styles/colors etc...)

Step 2 - Make/Modify buttons and other icons/graphics (your infoboxes corners too) to match your existing site.

Step 3 - Change the HEADER.PHP/FOOTER.PHP and the logo link to match your existing site.

That should get you mostly there.

Step 4 - change the default LAYOUT using BTS/STS or use any of the other tips and tricks posted on varius OSC forums - depending on the want/need is.

Good Luck
