Default admin access levels ~ can't log in

    Hi,

First let me state...I didn't know osCMax existed. I am kind of new to osCommerce and found you because I have a problem and I am not getting a response, so I googled and found you. Very cool stuff, wish I had started here.

    My Problem:
    Using 2.2RCa
I added "admin access", "multi level access" and yet another version that escapes me.
I cannot log in...following the directions, I used admin@localhost/admin... still didn't work on any of the versions. It seems to hang on the login page.
Went to phpmyadmin...tried using the encrypted password...still didn't work. Created another admin....still didn't work.

I have restored back to the original(5 or 6 times now) and I can get into the old interface using the old login. whew!

But I really need to be able to set levels of control.

So I found osCMax and now I am really, really confused. I set up a separate test site and was going to do a "compare" but honestly this site has been so modified that I don't know which way to push stuff.

I have looked around your forum and I haven't found the fix, maybe I missed it but at least here, you are responding.

    Any assistance is appreciated.

    Peace,
    Diane

Sounds like you'd be better off with 'Max.
If you only need to migrate products, then you can use EasyPopulate.
Otherwise, you need to delve into database structures to export/import - or seek someone that will do it for you.

    Thanks ridexbuilder...

I have made a lot of changes to the design...and a few modules that might be included in the Max version.

Mods: info box customizing, additional pictures, individual item shipping, attribute sets, discount coupons, wysiwyg editor...might be one or two more but when I do the compare, no matter which way I push the code...something gets lost...ME! LOL

If I set up a clean Max install would I be able to add those modules if they aren't included? And EasyPopulate is "easy"?...so if I set it up in another "test" folder and it all works fine, can I later change that to a different name? like "store"? or how do I do that?

    Thanks again ridex...

    Peace,
    Diane

Here's a few docs to keep you quiet and should help to answer most of your queries (included contributions in particular):
    http://wiki.oscdox.com/introduction
    http://wiki.oscdox.com/oscmax_docs
Plus, if you get up to speed with 'Max, there's a turbo-charged new version soon to be released - in a couple of months time. Better usability and even more features/enhancements.

I just opened the doc...and I feel like I am putting the cart before the horse...

Has anyone heard of and solved the original problem?

After installing Admin Access Levels the login doesn't work, the page hangs at the login and I also noticed that when I put in the correct login...while the login page remains, but it does give me the "username or password fail" message and when I try something else it doesn't give that message.

    Peace,
    Diane

Ach well, I led the horse to water.. (Admin access already installed, amongst many others)

Suggest you methodically retrace the install steps and see if you've missed a step.

    Hi ridex...

Back tracking at this point might be difficult because I installed those admin level mods so many times. Anything is possible but I don't think that I would have missed the same thing like 6 times. Maybe something when I am "comparing"...

I've opted to work Max local, didn't know you could do that. And guess what...I can't log into it either! I am guessing because I followed the instructions my username is "root" with no password...gotta magic wand or something?

This is nutz....I gotta back away from the computer...question is will I drop kick it! LOL

    Peace,
    Diane

A break will be a good idea, you're losing the plot!

    • Administrator Username :: Your login username
    • Administrator Password :: Your login password (do not lose this!)
Root/blank is for the database setup part.

    Man...that was dumb!

I am in and WOW! You have a ton of stuff in there. Now I get it when you said... "Sounds like you'd be better off with 'Max."

Looks like a new adventure for me, guess going to sleep early is out of the question.

    Again...thank you.

    Peace,
    Diane
