Default Please help! I'm stuck!

My install and customization have gone well, but I'm not a programmer. When you go to my catalog and try to create a new account, it says that page is not available. When you try to place items in the shopping cart, they disappear sometimes, and sometimes they stay until you add a second item, and then both disappear. Somebody please help! I've been working to get this thing up and running for quite awhile now, and my boss is about to blow my head off!

pbicontact, it is sessions or ssl settings causing the problem.

You really need to post more information about your setup. OS, PHP version, OSC version, SSL or not, etc. As much detail as possible.

Default Well.....I'm not sure

You said I need to give more info...I just downloaded OSC 2.2 a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what PHP version, or about ssl or sessions. All I know is that tech support from my web server suggested I download OS Commerce to build my online store, so I did. I've got the install worked out, and have added about 80 products to the store, and it's all working right. It just won't let a customer create an account or keep anything in the shopping cart. Can you tell me how to find the other answers for the questions you asked?

pbicontact, without your server specs, nobody here can help. I suggest you ask your host what version of php, what operating system and version.

You installed the cart, so you should know whether or not you are using private ssl, shared ssl or none.

Once you post that info, we can help, but otherwise, nobody here has any idea what your setup is, so it would be guessing.

Hi, I'm a new member and I hoping to get some help about my installation which I just started. My problem is similar to this. The cart shows alright but when I click the login or create a new account, it gives a not found error (http 404). I noticed on the address that it starts with https. but when I changed it to http the page does appear. I'm just learning this so what setup am I missing? I deduce that it has something to do with security. I'd appreciate your help. My webhost is ipowerweb.com and my site is www.artloftart.com - this hopefully will provide you with the info to help clarify this problem. THANKS!

artloftart, do you have an ssl certificate installed? Probably not. If that is the case, you need to turn of SSL in the configure.php file.

If you are using shared ssl, is the https server set correctly in the configure.php file? It has to point to your SSL url. Check with your host for the correct url.

Ok, I think I have the answers which might be able to let you help me. My server uses php version 4.3.2, the os is Suse Linux v. 8.2, and we have shared ssl. Now, if I can just find out how to make the create account and log in buttons work. I'm getting the "unable to display this page" or "page not found" errors. Hopefully, this is enough info that somebody might actually be able to help me.
Thanks

pbicontact, does your host have tech help. Sounds like we had the same problem. What I did is that I copied and pasted my question and msasek's answer to an email to my webhost technical help so they can provide me the right urls to fix it and they were nice enought to go in my cart files and fix it for me so now I'm ok! Sorry this is not a very "technical" suggestion but it worked for me. Thanks masasek for your help!
