Wiped out Admin password and email not working.

While changing the email that is listed in the Admin section, I accidentally wiped out the Admin password by leaving the password fields blank. I "assumed" that by leaving them blank that it would stay the same, or at least prompt me that they were indeed required! This would be a nice update, btw.

However, I'm now in a real bind, as the email is not working for this install either. I was in the process of changing it from using the 'sendmail' functionality to 'smtp' per my host provider's instructions when this little incident happened. How can I reset my password? My install has been highly modified, so a reinstall is NOT an option. Surely there is some way to either get the email working or to manually reset the password via a database import or something. Please help! Thanks!!!

Yes you can fix this ... don't panic no reinstall required!

Thanks for the password change tip via directly in the admin table in the database...it works. Great tip!

Any insight, however, on the emails not working? My host provider says I must use smtp, as they do not support the sendmail option. They are telling me I must have smtp authentication "installed" as a module, but so far I haven't had any luck getting clear instructions on just how to do that.

Have you searched the Wiki ... ?

Try setting E-Mail Transport Method to SMTP ...

Although I suspect that your host is trying to get more money out of you ... who are you using?
