Default Can anyone help with CRE-Loaded6_v2? Need some mods/hacks

Hi Folks,

We are mid-step in completing an install and customization of CRE-Loaded6_v2 for a friend. Its the first time we have worked with OSC and are doing this as a favour - so sorry if the questions are newbie like

Our friend has asked us to figure out how to grant restricted admin rights to the system to let suppliers add their own products to the store.

We figured out the Member Group and tried that - but it appears like anyone in that member group can edit/delete ANY product or category and can't be restricted to just their own.

Is there any mod/hack or work around that would allow us to assign and restrict admin rights to particular product IDs or some other way of accomplishing this?

The other option we considered was creating a form for product entry, then using the output from the form to populate the dbase - using EP - removing the need for any admin rights. Can the import of cvs files in EP be automated or does it always need an administrator to click the import button?

Please help - we are running out of ideas and under the gun time wise.

Sounds from your post you have figured it out. OSC reads products on the fly, so adding a product to your DB would effectively change the whole store for you on the fly.

Write a page with embedded script and form . Link to it from a special "add products page" which of course is in a directory you have .htaccess for just the people you want to be able to add products. This will give each person a username and password to be able to use the add product page.

The scipt will create database entries into your _products table and wallah! new products...

not a problem, also make sure to give user permissions in the database to only add entries, not remove them or however you want it, but i guess you know all about databases, anyway. could do alot of cool things with the script page. Make it like a product administration page. nice little backend application you would have there.
Maybe even send me a copy of it when your done
