I am trying to test out the download feature. I have enabled the download feature in the configuration section and I enabled an attribute along with the link in the filename field. However when I step through the order process to download the document NO link shows up......It states that the download link is there .....but there is no link. I am assuming that my problem is in the file name structure so I've tried various file name combinations such as /catalog/download/book.doc and www.hostname.com/catalog/download/book.doc etc. Has anyone used this and run into this problem before? Thanks!

Never mind I was thinking to much. Just entering in the download directory and entering the filename without any slashes or proceeding sub-directories is all it took.

Or just the filname.xxx The reason I am asking is because I can't get the Download Button to show up, either on the checkout success page or in the My Account/View Orders page. Another issue was that the expiry date was showing as December 7, 1999 - a date long past. I was able to delete the date by setting the variable expiry date download window to "0". But I have a feeling it is lurking around somewhere, although I can't see it anymore. While setting the Attributes of my Downloadable Product, I've tried using relative URLs, or just the Filename.xxx only, checking permissions, scourged the database, etc. Nothing will cause the Download Button to show up. It does show the Filename in the Download Links section at the bottom of either page (Checkout and/or My Account/View Orders) msasek, don't get mad at me for posting this numerous times, but all the threads I've posted at are relevant to this issue and I have searched the entire forum, read all the Wiki docs, pondered the entire OsCommerce site, but I can't find any answers, and I on a deadline with this. And this is my family's web site. So it is important. My apologies for being a nuisance. |

Just had the same problem with a client of mine and he solved the problem by realizing the the downloads directory was NOT WRITEABLE - could it be as simple as that? Joe

I wish. I tried setting permissions on the download directory, from 644 to 777, but the button still won't show show up. And the funny part is, I know it is going to be something simple . . . . That's why I can't figure it out

| In-Overtime, are ypu setting the order status to delivered? Check to see that the order status is actually 'Delivered' or the link will not appear.

Yep, I sure did! I had a a feeling that that was just common sense. I even used the "update" before and after, in different sequences, etc. The order is showing up throughout all the reords and in the database, like it should. THis is actually the final thing I need to work out, then the website is ready. And it is, in all reality, the most important aspect. Thanks for the fast repsonse. As always, msasek, you are the man!

More attempts to sort thru this. Double-checked my config.php file to make sure the FS section for the download directory was correct - It is. I added 1000 as a quantity - Still No Download Button. I turned on the "Check Stock" option - Nope, nothing. I checked the default SQL file in my original OscMax download for reference. All variables are correct. Whoa! Wait a minute - After browsing the Downloads Controller contribution (for comparison), am I missing the download_controller.php file, or is has that file been changed in OscMAX? THIS IS NOW THE ONLY OBSTACLE KEEPING THE SITE FROM GOING LIVE!

In my opinion the probelm is in Expiry Days - it starts from 30 November 1999 instead of the current day of purchase - when I put in Expiry Days 1590 - it expires at 7 April 2004, but when I put 7 (default days) it goes up to 7 Dec 1999 only. So there should be change from 30November 1999 to the current date of purchase. PLease, let me know how to fix it.

You too, huh! I feel a bit better, but my Cart is Still Broken. OscMax member red_fraggle was supposed to be checking into it - I sent him all my login info. That was three days ago. Haven't heard a thing. If and when I find an answer, or someone finds it for me, I'll be sure to post it - it could help other down the road as well.
