| Hi Have had someone convert a template from oscommerce to oscMax. Wanting to know if doing this to any template (client purchased one from templatemonster) should there be any changes to the core files as the programmer has made some changes to some of the includes/ files? I thought the whole idea of templates was to keep it seperate from the core? Another question is, is it possible to have the site down for maintenance but still have some way of viewing the front end of the site for Admins? Cheers |

| 1. Templates can be used to include custom boxes, files, etc, and that will not change any of the core files. Most likely the original files that were included are still there unchanged. The issue with templatemonster designs for osCommerce is that they are not really templates but an entire customized core made to look different. So, they have to be adapted, and if the designer is not 100% familiar with osCMax, may take some shortcuts and change core code. 2. Yes, just put your IP in the admin IP section of Down for Maintenance and you will be able to view the entire site.

| Thanks for that. With the IP addresses - would be good if you could enter more than one so a client and yourself could look at the website when down for maintenance. |

| Hi The programmer has made changes only to some of the includes files - would this be normal - noticed things like disabling reviews, language, etc in the backend are not working on the template so assuming this maybe due to tinkering with core files ?? I had a go at converting the oscommerce template but waaaay too confusing. Wish oscommerce was templated - is much better practice (like Joomla 1.5 is now) Cheers |

| There is no footer.php or header.php in osCMax. All is contained in main_page.tpl.php of your template. Text is in the language files, includes/languages/english.php and includes/languages/english/*
