How to edit index page

Hi to all,
I'd like to edit the home page in order to show all category exploded with subcategory... I'll try to explain in a better way...

As you can see in this site bimbomarket.it in the home page they have all the categories listed by name ('PASSEGGIO', 'AUTO', ...) with a list of subcategories listed under it.

I'd like to display my categories in a very similar way, so I'm asking everybody to help me as I'm a newby to osCommerce.

Please answer with any suggestion or linking to any post could help me.
