Sorting Order not working

Hi guys... hope everything is going well.

I need some help. On my site i can set the sorting order for each products so that it will arrange itself in a specific order. This works fine for the categories however when it comes to the specific products it doesnt work at all and just displays in a random order. Can anyone let me know if this can be fixed and how I can do it.

The second thing i want to fix is the left hand column. It is not locked to the top of the page and if i open a page on the site that has quite a few products the left hand column with the navigation appears half way down the page. Any ideas of how to move it right to the top and lock it in place no matter what page its on. CHeers guys appreciate the great help i been getting on here

thats the home page. You will see that there is a red navigation box on the left column. If you navigate away from the home page you will see that it does not stay at the top. Just wondered if i could move it to the top and then lock it into place. Thanks

For items - there is no "set" sort order. Generally they will come up in the order that they are added to the database. You would have to modify the SQL statements in order to have you items in a particular order.
Installing something like Update quantity & change sort_order of categories and products or Product Sort By Price or Product Attributes Sort Order or Custom sort order field for products or Sort Products By Dropdown - just to list a few..... but have not use any of these with osCMax and may duplicate some functions. (The last two are looking promising....)
