Default Change content area on index page

Trying to edit the very first thing and I am lost.

How do I replace the main content area on the home page?

I just want to put my own html with my own images and text.

I've been trying to figure this out for hours now and it's the very first thing I wanted to do.

I hope it gets easier than this.
Also went through ALL documentation and posts without success.

Any help would be appreciated.

bobbyb, you have not read all the docs, as it is explained in the docs here. Click the 'OSCdox Guide' link and read the practice exercises, and the how-to section.

It is much easier in MS2-MAX, I recommed you use that instead of a stock MS2 shop.

Yeah, read that. How to edit and modify width, boxes, text, header and footer.

Unfortunately that's not what I'm trying to do. Exercises 1-6 do not provide the information to replace the text in the content area with my own html design which includes images and graphics included in tables.

Oh well - I'm sure all the php programmers out there are thrilled with this shopping cart but we graphic designers with a limited php programming background don't have much of a chance.

I'll try MS2-MAX... after all it's free so why should I complain?

bobbyb, you just have to make a small mental leap between editing the width to editing the content... Just put your html in there. The docs tell you everything you need to know. Time to engage the gray matter.

Maybe I don't understatnd what you are trying to do. Do you want to change the text that is displayed between the columns? So edit index.php, includes/languages/english.php, includes/languages/english/index.php

You want add your own images and text, edit index.php and put whatever html you want in there.

FYI, in max, all you have to do is go to the admin, click 'define mainpage' and add your html content. Then click save. Done. No file editing at all...
