Default Re: discount

Are you sure that you want to do this?

Let me explain how and why this is NOT a good idea.

I buy from you the first time and get a 10% discount. Then I come back to buy again and notice no discount is applied. So, I go to gmail and create a new gmail account and come back to your store and buy again as a new customer and get a new 10% discount.

I can continue to "game" your system for 10% each time I buy from you. You develop no "customer loyalty" and end up with a bunch of the same customers who gamed you with multiple accounts.

A better option.

Customer Loyalty Discounts.

As a customer spends with you they get to the point where every sale with you is getting a 10% discount.

So, the first sale to them they get 0%. After they have purchased $200 they get a 3%. After they purchased $400 they move up to 6%. After they purchased $750 they move up to 10%.

In this model you are rewarding them for continuous sales with you. And the best part is that there is already a contribution that supports this model.

So, before you start rewarding a behavior that you don't want, reconsider what you want to reward and start rewarding THAT behavior.
