Default Advice Plz: Good, Cheap Hosting for osCommerce learning...

Well, a person can read and read about this stuff all day long, but I'm the type of person who needs to dig in to learn.

My company already has a couple of oscommerce sites that I maintain, but didn't build. I could get fired quick if I played with the site and messed it up (even if I have a backup to fix it really quickly). I'm wanting to learn more about setting the site up and customizing it myself because I'm hoping to do some freelance work locally on the side.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a really cheap web host that supports all that I need to set something like this up and play with it?

    Thanks in advance...

The cheapest would be to set up a local developent webserver on your computer - that is FREE. You can play all you want to learn how it works.

I recommend apache2triad if you are using a windows based computer as your testing platform. Just to a google search on apache2triad, and download the package. Install it to your computer and you are ready to install osCommerce locally for testing and development. Free is good

That is just trialware though, right? Does it expire?

Apache2Triad requires no registration to download, and it is not a trial package.
