| blank screen = php error. Check the error logs for your site and post the error message. Nobody will be able to even guess until you do that.

| If you don't know where your error log is, you really should not be attempting to modify the code yet. You are in over your head. Find where the error logs are (ask your host) and get the error message. Then come back here with it.

| php/http error logs for your hosting account. The error will be in there.

| Good, by saying you are editing index.php, you said a lot. My advise would be not to touch anything else, and hire someone who knows what is doing, since obviously you are not. Get someone local to you, so he can also teach you on site the minimums. Just editing a file you have no clue what it does, is not a good idea. |

| I agree, you are out of your depth. a PHP file is NOT an HTML file. In fact, if you are using OSCMax you should almost NEVER be touching PHP files, but you should be doing most if not all your work in the template files. You really need to set up a local machine where you can build, test and learn about the product, or you need to do as mindtwist said and hire good help.

| Oh come on now guys, I've been learning PHP while I've been reprogramming my MAX site. It's hard but not impossible. Max is for the pros. Use the easier OSC: osCommerce, Open Source Online Shop E-Commerce Solutions Unless you need to use attributes (like shirt sizes and colors) the original OSC is easier to edit and you can get help fast and by more people. Here on MAX everyone talks tech, the original OSC site everyone speaks English (or some version of it) and if you are new at programming, life will be a lot easier for you. The original OSC also comes with an easy to follow INSTRUCTION MANUAL that tells you where everything is and how to do a lot of it. It's 114 pages, but I read it in one night. Most of my websites use the new original OSC program, believe me you will thank me later. And if you really can't understand the original OSC, you can start with this little store: www.dazedangels.com/store.zip ~eDee |
