Question OSC to OSCMax?

Hi all,

Wondering if you could advise me on something please?

I currently have osCommerce 2.2 Milestone 2 Update 060817 installed at Welcome to AutoPot Europe Ltd and all is running fine, with the exception of a slight issue with the "state" dropdown box for customers.

I've stumbled across OSCmax and installed a copy and love it!!
So much better than the original oscommerce.

On with my question...

Is it possible (or how hard is it) to transfer my current oscommerce installation over to oscmax?

The main thing is that i want to keep the template that i've made, and all products, values, etc...

Is it possible? - any advise on this and how i'd go about it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Anthony.

Default Re: OSC to OSCMax?

some of it's easy, some isn't.

For instance, I lost my customer database and order history, but everything else was an easy move. Of course I also took the opportunity to upgrade my template from a style that was 4 years old to one that has much more DHTML and AJAX.

Of course I was running a store that was on pre-MS2 so YMMV.

Thanks for the response.

I'd much appreciate it if anyone could provide me with a link, or clear instructions on moving from oscommerce to oscmax, maintaining my products/categories, customers, order history etc...

I have a fully working shop in use daily and wish to move over to oscmax from the current oscommerce installation.
I don't mind setting up the new oscmax in a new directory on my server and then porting the database over, but have no idea how much work is involved and how to go about it?

The idea i have at the moment is to backup the database in oscommerce, install a fresh copy of oscmax to a new directory, and import the database again, but for some reason i have a feeling its not quite as easy as that.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks,

Anthony

See this thread:

Upgrading an old OSC pre MS1 to OscMax v2.

That should point you in the right direction.
