Default install -php message

Hello,

I am trying to install 2.2 on a desktop XP box using phpdev from firepages and I am following the oscdox manual.

Phpdev is working correctly with the latest php,Apache etc., and I can browse around my www dir fine.

I have installed the catalog and admin in www but when I use the browser..
http://localhost/catalog/install/install.php I get the message..

"FATAL ERROR register_globals is diisabled in php.ini , please enable it!"

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

Is this your own server?

If so, you need to log into root and enable register_globals in php.ini

Thank you melinda,

I have the catalog and admin dirs in the /www/ of the phpdev set up which is its root and as soon as I changed the php.ini to enable the globals, up pops the correct page.

I do have another brick wall in front of me though..

I have created the db name as starshop in phpMyAdmin but the next screen takes me to enter a table and I have fallen in a heap again!

I thought there was a samplke databse already in the package. Or is there and it is converted to the one we create?

I have looked at docs on php abd mysql but still stumped.

Thanks

Hi,

If you want to send me your login to your server I can look and see what is happening.

In my phpMyAdmin I just add a db and then setup a user and add the user to the db and that's all.

When you run the install script it will add the tables.
