Images don't upload

I've got version 2.2-MS1 running at www.braziliancrafts.net/shop/ . When I add a new product and browse to the image on my local hard drive, the image doesn't show up. I have the DISPLAY PRODUCT IMAGE option set to 1 and IMAGE REQUIRED set to 1.

I have another site at shop.spinwiz.com (don't know the version) that works perfectly. Go figure.

Anybody have any insight on this image upload problem?

CHMOD the images file?

Make sure the /images dir is writable (chmod 777). If it is already set right, you may need to remove the image data in the database.

This was not the problem, the directory was already 777. But, this gave me a clue and I checked the permissions on the graphics files themselves. The read permissions for GROUP and WORLD were not set to READ. CHMODing them solved the problem.
