Sit tight! this will have caught quite a few people so i would imagine it should be fixed quite soon. I just installed CVS today and have exactly the same problem. There are two threads on it in the OScomm forum (one in development & one in installation troubleshooting) - but as you quite rightly point out no solution yet. According to the thread in development, it looks like some change was made in the latest update which leaves the admin area inaccessible. Some one has sent a bug report to the coder gurus (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/f...forum_id=12321) so watch the threads and cross all appendages available and hopefully we will have a fix soon!

Heres the latest from my end. I downloaded the latest snapshot which is dated 06/23/2003 & reinstalled 'catalog' & 'admin' and started again. I followed the install procedure and got to the end of Step2:Configuration - configuration was successful! When clicking the catalog or admin buttons on this page, i CAN access them.......... BUT....when i click ini a couple of levels eg. click configuration - then one of the config options, i get the following error message fromt the browser: The directory name is invalid I am using Dreamweaver MX and had uploaded all files to the testing server. xionanx : I think it would be worthwhile for you to try again and do a fresh install of the new snapshot - just in case this last error is something specific to my setup. In the meantime, fresh input would be gratefully received

I have a similar error message: "Warning: main(includes/languages/english/): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Xitami\webpages\catalog\admin\includes\applicat ion_top.php on line 193 Mine appears at the top of the page upon entering the administration page. Also none of the administration functions work. I successfully setup os commerce on a win98 machine with xitami, mysql,& php. administration works perfectly. This was a test machine. The server I am setting up uses win2k, xitami, mysql, php I am at a loss. I think I have a directory configuration problem but every thing I try seems to fail.

MegaheRtZ: I believe that you should be able to get rid of that error message by reinstalling the LATEST CVS snapshot...according to this - http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/f...forum_id=12321 - the issue has been resolved and fix incorporated in new snapshot. I would suggest you do this and would be grateful if you could post your results back here either way. Regards, €urorunner.

I'm not sure how to properly configure it . I went to the bookmark for the snapshot. I don't quiet understand what the snapshot is??? |

To the best of my knowledge (someone please correct me on this if im wrong), application_top.php should be located both in catalog\admin\includes & catalog\admin. Because Oscomm is opensource, we benefit in that it is being worked on constantly by a whole community of developers and coders - so improvements and fixes are brought onstream on an ongoing basis - via new releases/versions/snapshots. ie. the latest snapshot incorporates the latest fixes and improvements. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/bugs,1203 In the last comments on this bugs page, the developer says the problem has been fixed recently...so thats why you should download the latest snapshot and reinstall. I have just checked the snapshot and it seems that there is yet another release out so im going to go and install it and report back - please do the same.

Ok - At last! I've got there. The new snapshot does fix the problem. Simply download it meghahertz and install from scratch. My problem was that having done that i was then getting a 'this directory is invalid' error - however, this was an IIS error and the fix is as follows just in case you encounter it: In IIS settings: - go to the default website properties - 'Home Directory' tab > configuration > Mappings > select .php and Edit - in the Add/Edit Application Extensions Mapping swithc ON 'Check that file exists' Good Luck!
